The DC9R began with the simple idea of melding the best features of a hand built 2011 style pistol with the rugged reliability, familiar feel, and manual of arms of a Glock pistol. This idea has been tried a few times before, but was never executed fully until now. Years of learning, research, testing, trial and error, and hard work have finally paid off with the DC9R being the result.
The frame is machined from a solid billet of 4140 carbon steel and was designed from the ground up to provide a solid back bone of the pistol. The frame rails are oversized and hand fit to each slide to ensure the tightest and smoothest reciprocation possible with no rattle or sloppiness. This helps to ensure that the barrel returns to the same exact position after every shot and eliminates any potential for inconsistencies in the trigger.
The barrel locking mechanism has been completely redesigned and uses a precision ground pin to engage with the barrel leg increasing the lockup surface and again ensuring consistent barrel position increasing the mechanical accuracy of the pistol. The pin is captured at all times, but easily removed by hand through a cutout in the bottom of the slide with a standard pin punch for cleaning and maintenance.
The barrel itself is oversized and hand fit to both the slide and frame providing an extremely tight lockup and easily capable of producing 5 shot groups under 1.5 inches at 25 yards. The DC Port Tracker is hand fit and blended with the slide to provide a seamless lockup and helps to reduce recoil to the very lowest levels possible with a 9mm handgun. The internal chamber is back bored to prevent jacket separation and degradation of accuracy.
The grip module is machined in two pieces from a solid billet of 6061-T6 aluminum and hand blended to match seamlessly with the frame. It accepts standard glock pattern magazines and uses a hand fit MBX steel magazine catch to hold them in place. The magazine overtravel stop in the frame has been shaped in such a way that it prevents damage to polymer magazines even with the use of the steel magazine catch. With that said, the pistols all ship with 2 MBX steel Defender 19 round magazines because a steel gun deserves steel magazines.
The gripping surfaces have replaceable grip tape inlayed to allow the end user to keep their gun looking clean and providing the maximum amount of grip at the same time. The grip tape is also offered in a less aggressive rubber type texture to make the gun more friendly to your skin if you plan on carrying inside the waistband.
The magwell is machined from a solid billet of 6061-T6 aluminum and the internal ramping is hand blended with the grip module to provide a perfectly smooth and snag free interface while inserting magazines.
The 1913 Picatinny rail was machined into the frame with the slot located in a position that places a Surefire X300 or Streamlight TLR-1 as close and high to the trigger guard as possible.
The DC9R represents the pinnacle of what a steel striker fired handgun can be and is covered under a limited lifetime warranty.
